The second concert in the Schumann series. Schumann, 1842. The composer wrote all of his chamber music quartets in the same year - the three string quartets and the piano quintet. This year is central to German romantic chamber music and provides a natural focus for the festival's 2017 edition. It opens with a "Schumann journey" enabling the Modigliani Quartet to present these four masterpieces in two concerts, which they have often performed on tour and are recording in April. Why a "journey"? Because it is also creates an opportunity, in Evian, to create ties between this music cycle with the water cycle, for a musical experience of the journey made by the water spring from the Gavot plateau, where it is born, down to the Grange au Lac, which is literally built upon it.
